Hey guys!

Thought I share an old project I tackled 12 years ago, with you. I didn't keep photos of the build. Just a few "Mik en Druks", but they'r hard copies only.

It started life as an early 1980's Suzuki DR500s. A friend a mine, Swaerie, started to turn it into a Super Single Racer, with Katana swing arm and all, when the S/Single rage took off in the nineties. However, he moved house and I bought the project.  :deal:

I "mono shocked" the rear and fitted a Kawa GPz 750 ZX swing arm, rear wheel, disc and caliper. All links were removed and new mountings welded on by a friend of a work pal for a case of beer, and so on. All brackets home made. :imaposer:

Front end was from some Kawa 1100J (I think), GPz ZX brakes and discs. Tomaselli clip ons. (All cables shortened by Media hydraulics to suit shorter reach.)

It had a Yamaha RD 350LC head light - fitted with Honda CD200 bulb and fittings, Suzuki TS 50LC speedo and rev counter, after market scooter mirrors, Suzuki petrol tank of some sorts, Honda NSR250 replica tail piece, trailer lights, home made alumunium battery box - which also housed the Honda CD200 ignition switch and wiring in a separate compartment, Yamaha TZR 125 Rear sets (original holes welded close), a Suzuki grey import exhaust of some sorts, "clinically" matched to the header pipe by Noise Boys.  :ricky: Now I had a Suzuki "TL500s" (Half a Suzuki TL1000 - the bike to have then.)

Thought I'd register it and use it, as a Café Racer, on the road, but then realized it was used by the Old SADF (PW en Seuns, PTY LTD) and never had paper work.  :eek7: I sold it back to Swaeire, who promptly started working on it again and changed a lot of my mods. He lost interest again and I bought it back from him.  :imaposer: I bought a rolling chassis from a bloke in Lenasia, chucked out the wasp nests from the head light and air box and "closed the loop" and made it a scrambler again.

Sold it later as an off road, but wish I didn't. Wouldn't taken much to make it a nice Bobber or Café Racer again.....  :pot:

Cheers
