Just Blip It!
Race Dog
Some riding buddies and I toured Swaziland on 2 separate weekends during September. I do not have many words, but I do have some pictures to share with you all.
We mainly rode the south western side of Swaziland as this is absolute DS heaven! The route was plotted mainly on T4A and most of the roads were shown as 4x4 tracks, we only ventured onto the tar to find fuel or accommodation. We stayed both nights at Maguga Lodge on the banks of the Maguga Dam near Piggs Peak.
The riding was very challenging with many eroded roads, cattle paths and river and stream crossings, there were times when we had to turn back the way we came as roads became impassible, we had one or 2 slow speed wipeouts and even 1 big wipeout which took more than an hour to recover the bike after it went down an embankment and into a ditch! Nobody was hurt and even the bikes got off with light scratches only.
Thanks to my ride buddies, Zulu (Alan), Padesh (lee), Sacana (Jose), Dingy (Andrew), Bailer (John), and Charl.
In conclusion I can say that both these rides were the best rides I have ever done! The scenery was stunning, the roads were challenging and remote, rural Swaziland is an experience and an adventure. Africa at it's best!
I can only say "I will be back!" Who wants to join me??
