So, after all the horror stories I've read and having struggled with a bolt when I got my 450, I decided it's time to lube the swingarm on the KLR. Being a temporary invalid, I won't be riding till next year anyway, so it seemed a good time to strip the linkage and get the rear shock upgraded.

I bought the bike on 3k kms and have ridden it through all sorts of rough terrain over the last few years and it's now on 32k kms. I've stripped and greased the linkage but never the swingarm.

I was expecting this to be a monumental task but all I did was remove the nut and knocked the bolt out with a rubber hammer - could not have been easier.

The secret - Q20 - that's all. Since I've had the bike, it's allways been cleaned with a pressure washer (like all my others) folowed with a liberal dose of Q20/WD40, etc. on all moving parts. In time it's obviously seeped in and displaced (or mixed with) the water and kept things as they should be.
