Synthetic Oil and Service Intervals

Oh No - another oil thread. :lol8:

Service intervals on my XR650L are 3000km's for oil and filter. The Owners Manual specifies the viscosity and spec - JASO MA or SG or better, but does not specify mineral or synthetic.

I am running the bike on full synthetic, which costs quite a bit more than mineral oil. However in theory synthetic holds up better than mineral oil.

Can I therefore extend the service intervals to 4, 5 or even 6000km's?

All opinions gladly accepted.
