Wow, what can I say………

Of my 35 birthdays, this one has to be ranked right up there!!

I firstly want to thank tankgirl, OliveOil and Muddy for making the effort to ride all the way up to Vic Falls and making my year!! You guys are the best, and this week-end will stay with me for the rest of my life! The only downside was that my best riding buddy, Marnus, could not make this trip! Next year partner!!

I spent 5 months in South Africa as I tried to get a Zambian Employment Permit sorted. The permit was finally granted and I flew back to Lusaka on 30 March, but only after an awesome ride in Maraisburg the morning of my flight. It is here that we decided to have a jol at Vic Falls. Very little planning was done, just the way I like it and we just agreed that we will meet up at Shoestrings in Vic Falls on 1 May.

So I drove down from Lusaka to Livingstone the afternoon of the 30th and spent the night chatting to four students from California in the bar of Fawlty Towers. It always fascinates me to talk to people, especially Americans, visiting “Africa” for the first time. It is quite amusing!

I was at the border at 07:00 am as I was not sure how long it will take to get through as I was taking my Zambain car though the border from Zambia to Zimbabwe and I was ready to spend my morning waiting! Instead to my surprise, I was through both border posts in less than 30min, on a public holiday nogal!!

So I decided to drive around Vic Falls a bit, on my drive, just outside of town I came across the Vic Falls Boys Club……….

Then it was on to the falls, they are at their maximum flow at the end of April, so we got absolutely soaking wet!! It was truly awesome!!

Yup old Leon looked after me well, and kept the ice cold Lion Lagers coming!! On the Saturday we got chatting to him about Mugabe and Zuma, and we jokingly said he can have Zuma, then he just laughed and said he will rather keep Mugabe, not even the Zimbabweans wants to be stuck with Zuma!!  :biggrin: :biggrin:

If you EVER stay in Vic Falls, there is only one place to stay = SHOESTRINGS BACKPACKERS........ The place is just brilliant!!!

I took this pic last year when I rode my bike back to Lusaka, on pretty much the same spot as the above pic, but this was in October.
