Technical help needed. XT600E

I have a problem with my XT600e's electrical system. As it is the e-model and only has electric start when I press the starter button I only hear a click. After a few times of pressing the putton and hearing the the click's the bike will start to turn over. The bike then however doesn't want to stop turning over when the the starter button is released even if the ignition is switched off. It then requires the battery to be disconnected before being able to stop the starter from turning.

Is this a battery problem or is the starter solenoid faulty?

Or something else i'm missing?

I have thought about replacing the battery but don't want to buy a battery if it's the starter solenoid or vice versa as both is quite expensive.

Any advice would be apreciated.
