I don't want to fan TR's flames about the advantages of small bikes, but for the last two days I have been taking my son's DR200 Djebel (he's only returning to CT later this month)  to commute between Parow and CT city because of wind. The bloody KLR is a sail in a crosswind and with the Djebel I have actually been sliding in underneath the wind. You can even pick up the occasional dice with a CD200 delivery bike. A lekker commuter indeed, especially at more than 30k's a litre and the fact that you can flatfoot it with bent knees.

Now, TR, before you get all smug: Biking is a many splendoured thing and few things can actually beat the feeling when you whack the throttle wide open in the meaty part of the power delivery to pick the bike up as you exit a corner on tar or when you whack it on an uphill corner on hard-packed dirt to bring the back shuddering around (too scrared to do it downhill). Often I wish for more meat than the KLR has. One should actually have 4 bikes, or 5.
