Enlighten me WRT that Long Tom Memorial :
The Long Tom on Long Tom Pass, between Sabie and Lydenburg(? my memory of that area is bad)...Is that just there because the pass is so-named?? I somehow thought that THAT was 'the last Long Tom'.
This is how Long Tom Pass got its name:
Long Tom Pass History Today, the pass gets its name from the Boer's 155mm Creusot Long Tom guns. It is the site where these guns were last fired towards the end of the Second Boer War (during the Boer retreat from Lydenberg under pursuit by British forces, 8-11 September 1901).
