And so it happened . . .

I have a friend here in town thats been looking for a bike, not just any bike, he wanted an Africa Twin  :deal: So when the right one came along, I gave my friend the details of the seller and the rest is history  8)

So last friday Babba (new on the forum ) went up to the big smoke to go fetch his dream bike ! He arrived back in Elliot on saturday night and offloaded the bike at my place. . . .

The very tired but happy man and his machine . . . .

I must say that this is one very smart and well looked after bike  :thumleft:

So . . . The bike offloaded, Babba went home for some much needed rest  :3some:

Before he left we had already planned the Twin`s first trip. So on sunday morning I woke up earlier than usual and went to Babba`s house. Him and his wife were still half asleep from travelling 1800km to go fetch the Twin but were soon up and getting ready for the day`s fun  :ricky: :ricky: :ricky:

Ready to go we went and filled up with motion lotion and hit the gravel towards Rhodes  O0

The roads to Rhodes were in good shape and we cruised along till I became thirsty, so we stopped at the Bottle Nek turn off for some much needed refreshment ! After a quick thirst quencher we hit the road to Rhodes again with one more drinks break along the way. Its weird that I was so thirsty but anyway . . .  :peepwall:

After the second drinks stop  we finally made it to Rhodes, where after a quick tour for Babba and his wife, we went to my favourite place in that part of the world, Walkerbouts Inn.  :mwink:

Just be warned ! It is very easy to get stuck there ! Dis baie lekker daar  :3some:

So after a few pics and a few drinks and brilliant pizza for lunch, we hit the road home  :ricky:

But we had to stop on the bridge over the river Kraai for some more liquids as I was thirsty AGAIN !  :patch:

Its a pretty place for a drinks break, and the silence is just great  ::)

So after getting rid of my thirst again, we hit the road again . . .

Along the way I decided to practice my "taking pics while riding" skills . . . .

These roads are perfect for this kinda thing, just wish my camera had my skills as the quality of the pics are not great, but I did try . . .

I seem to have gotten this story sorted as far as taking pics while riding . . .

Soon we hit the Mountain Shadows Junction and had one last drink before we went our seperate ways . . .

After leaving Mountain Shadows I left Babba and his wife Babbette and sped down Barkly to Ramkat`s place on the farm. I was supposed to help him strip his bike . . .

When I got there . . . I`ll let the pics do the talking . . . .

After which Ramkat and I tucked into some curry he had made !  :drif: Nothing like a few Captains and some curry  :3some:

When I was finished with that curry and those Captains I was pretty much falling asleep on the couch so I took a slow ride back in the dark home . . .

I had a great day, and I`m sure Babba enjoyed it too . . .

Thanks to Babba and Babbette for the ride and to Ramkat for showing me what a Dakar looks like being stripped and for dinner  :thumleft:

Love those roads Glen - think I am going to have to pay you a visit sometime between Christmas and New Year.
Thx for the RR.

Jislaaik Glen, that is some nice area's you have around there, and that twin looks awesome!

PS

I like your motivational sticker on your windscreen.

VERY nice bike!!! Glen and Dorathee, Kally and Irish are coming up to Rhodes between Christmas and New Year. I'm sure we should link up. Our idea is to base ourselves in Rhodes and do day-trips up and down all the passes. It would be good to do it together with other members. What say you?
