Touring Helmets - Why do you wear what you wear?

I wear an Arai VX3 which is an mx/offroad as that is the riding I do on my Zaar R so my knowledge of touring helmets is nil. A friend of mine who is not a member of this forum (yet) is looking to buy a GS1150 and I said to him that he can't ride it with his old Shoei full face as it's just not done, so he needs to get a touring helmet. So the question is; which one and why?
