I dropped my faithfull steed off at Lyndhurst this morning, and was handed the key to the quick banana.
F800s.
Nice engine..really awesome, this little 800 has lotsa grunt (for someone used to a 650 single)
I might, for the first time be excited about the release of the 800gs.
I will be interested to see what kind of low-end torque they will be able to get out of this little motor with the correct gearing. (once again, i am used to the 650 thumper)
The belt, makes for some smooth sounding riding, and no chain lag.
I briefly took the little monster for a spin on the highway, and shat my self seeing the needle almost at 180 after just merging onto the highway from the on-ramp. I quickly settled in at 120.
a sixth gear...what a novelty..if i had to own this bike, i am sure the 6th will have cobwebs on it, as i will never use it. (i accidentally discovered it, when absentmindedly shifting up, while in 5th. ;D ;D)
Bottom line...it's a sport bike with very uncomfortable seating for traffic riding..makes one yearn for the highway where speeds in excess of 40 can be achieved.
The steering dampner is a nice addition , the bike does not like bumps around the corner very much.
I like it, as a concept, but will never own one.
Will i buy a 800GS? We will have to wait and see when it is released.
