After our late lunch, we went down to a dry riverbed for some fun in the sand.

It was soon going to be dark and we were far away from our lodging. What followed must count among the worst 90 minutes spent on a bike.......going through ******** towns like Tugela Ferry and riding at high speed after dark with a smoked visor....... I was glad to arrive at Battlefields lodge in one piece. :eek7: :eek7:

Rode through Tugela Ferry on two occasions. It's to date the only town in my travels where I've felt unwelcome. A real ********

My first proper ride in Rural KZN and I must say I've never felt so unwelcome in general. Everywhere we went people refused to greet us and kids threw stones at us. I was hit with a rock on the side of my helmet and it left me slightly dazed and confused for a couple of minutes. I'm so used to people being friendly where ever we ride in the Lowveld and Swaziland that this experience came as a bit of a surprise. In the deep rural areas it was a bit better though....
Maybe it had something to do with the general mood in the country at present......
