Verneukpan in the WET ?

Has anybody been through Verneukpan after some rains? Our plan is to ride up to Middelpos tomorrow via Kenhardt - Verneukpan - Williston. It has rained there last night only 9mm but there are some more light showers predicted for today and clearing up by tomorrow morning.
The general feedback seems to be that you should stay away from the pan if it's wet......is it really that bad?
