Tomorrow (Friday) approximately 110 riders will embark on the following event.
The Durban-Johannesburg (DJ) commemorates the actual race between these two cities The race was stopped in 1936 due to safety concerns. Bikes manufactured up to 1936 are eligible to participate in the commemorative rally. The machines are not strictly DS however, due to the nature of the roads at that time, all bikes performed as DS's  - a large proportion of the original race took place on dirt roads. The event akes place over two days:
- Friday the route runs from Pinetown to Newcastle and
- Saturday from Newcastle to Johannesburg.
This is my ride:
A 1935 Sunbeam Lion - 600cc of raging sidevalve performance  (performs a bit like a two - wheeled tractor)
Some of the bikes taking part:
Anyway, off to bed now - got an early start tomorrow!
