After much hunting for a good condition GS1000G i have managed to find one. Did the memorial run to Patensie yesterday with her as a shake down run after getting the carbs cleaned and fork seals done, and absolutely love the bike. There will be a complete refurbish next winter but for now there are a few thingss I want to get done for a trip to N Cape in Sept for the flowers:
Seat recovered (have someone locally that does all the classic car work, will be taking it to him)
New battery (preventative, battery is 5 years old) - source locally
New fork springs (or investigate spacer in place of air in forks) - local mac to assist
New grips - source locally
New air filters - order from agent or...
Engine guards made or sourced - source or order in
and the part that i will really need help with, the gs1000s screen as pictured below. Have also posted a pic of my bike so you can see my base:
