Watefval Boven / Machadodorp - share some tips

Did some more riding around the area weekend before last, always discover a bit more

Any secret gems / routes in the area?  (don't want to stray too far from that stretch since I normally take 2,3 hrs riding around, grab sth to chow and off to Bambi [PG launch site])?

Can't believe that structure is still standing at Bambi launch site. Me and David James built that over a weekend after the wooden structure was destroyed by fire in about 1993. Was rewarded for my efforts by a nice flight to Middleburg that same weekend.

No ****?  You mean the "bathroom" or "afdak"?  Both still going strong. 

Stopped flying?  Pretty much my favorite "nearby" site

Just the " afdak ". If you look carefully, on one of the uprights ( south end ) you will see an indentation of about 9mm. Some wise guy decided to test it for strength will his Glock. Stopped flying in about 2004. After a disastrous flight with a failed reserve deployment - only to luckily recover normal flight under my glider- and the entire port side A lines failing just before landing, I decided that this was my final wake up call. But I had 13 years of awesome flying.

Nice,  when i was flying (from '89 to '07) i always wanted to ride my bike with a glider and then hit the sky.  Nice to see you had an excellent ride and some valley release on the same day.  If you got lucky that night, i would be a perfect day . >
