Today, it was amazing to see the "entire" JHB Metro Speed Cops Bike Gang on the road between Southgate Mall and the Soweto Highway Turn-off. The BM's standing two by two at every off-ramp, giving the "cages" the beady eye.
However, at the last off-ramp (Soweto Highway), there was this lonely single "girl" cop with her jacket collar pulled up around her face, which gave me the impression " If I don't see them, they don't see me."
She was the only one without pen and pad in hand.
I guess she was praying, "Please God, make sure that my buddies catch all the baddies, before they reach my intersection." She looked scared. She must have pulled the short straw and her boss said "It's your turn, to stand last post, if you get a call to say some driver has jumped our stops, make sure that you don't let the vehicle get off the highway. If you have to, jump in the way of the on-coming vehicle"
The regular baddie "HOG" and "Honda" riders actually seemed like decent guys this morning. It must have been difficult for them to ride at speeds under 160km.
Congratulations to the Johannesburg Metro Police Department Bike Squad, you really do make our roads safer for bikers.
