The more we rely on batteries (bikes, cars, solar batteries), the more important it becomes to have a reliable tester. But to find one!
The more I read, the more important reliable results become.

I initially thought that the BA101

was a good and reliable tester, but unreliable readings stays an issue.

This Konwei KW600 Car Battery Tester at Takealot receives mediocre readings from the start:"https://www.takealot.com/konwei-kw600-car-battery-tester/PLID54862351?gclid=Cj0KCQjwqrb7BRDlARIsACwGad6mi8k4hQSdbMQea7gr4L3GKlI6_jPJ2ulSsZLafbcQeAi59Jl2lWoaAkhSEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Moving up the price range, the foxwell bt705 (about R2500) sounded like a worthy alternative, but some poor reviews mars the buying decision.

During a conversation with a car diagnostics dealer he said that the cheaper units are just not reliable. He recommends this as the most affordable reliable tester, but it becomes dear for a DIY application: Launch BST460 Battery Analyzer/Tester  R 5, 250. https://autodiagnostic.co.za/BST%20460%20battery%20tester.htm

Sooo, are there any reliable testers to be had around the R1000 mark?
