What scooter?
My sister aged 40 needs a scooter as a daily commute from Table View to Cape Town Foreshore.
Key considerations:
Reliability - no Chinese crap
bigger wheels - handles better than smaller ones
decent acceleration + reasonable top speed - more than 100km/h as 80km/h top speed is unsafe
Maintenance - longer service intervals, dealer network, affordability
Budget: R10000 max for a decent 2nd hand one with low km.
She rode a Honda Estorm for a while but it was not a good idea as she does not have a mechanical conscience: rode it on choke + over-revved it causing valve problems (so need CVT), she is not good on maintenance - a Estorm needs a constant hand adjusting/lubing the chain, tightening bolts etc.
Options:
Yamaha BWS 100cc - pricey - not sure as it is 2 stroke - what is dependability and maintenance like?
SYM - 125 available but expensive, not many 2nd hand examples available.
What else will work? A bike will work as well but she is not hot on chain maintenance - any maintenance for that matter. I will keep my hand on it but need something that is problem free that does not need constant fiddling.
