The clever guys out there on the forum, and there are many, explain something to me please. Most dirt bikes have different sizes front are rear wheel diameter... some say bigger front helps tracking and smaller rear is better for transfer of power.. but then different makes seem to swop it around with bigger in the rear and smaller in the front. Even within virtually identical bikes.. like the Honda xr 150 and xr 190.. the one ( 150) having bigger front wheel than back and then swopped around in the next model ( 190).

from a spares point of view it would be easiest if both front and rear had the same size wheel... but for reasons of ergonomics or safety they seem to say no... the catch is they seem to jump around with almost randomness... or is the only factor the point that they may not be the same size ?? is it simply a commercial angle to force sales higher of spares ?

any suggestions on the reason.. if there is one hard and fast reason ?
thanks guys for some insight.
