Race Dog
I suppose it always hard for other people to really answer these questions as they don't share the same budget constraints.
I've been looking at a few KLR's this week and have a few more lined up over the next few days.
My budget is R30k-R35k.
[Option 1]
Went to see quite a new KLR:
2008 year
new shape
9,000km
pretty standard
R42,000
my main motivation was to get an idea of what a new (=good?) klr was like. And though he might move on the price. At the time he wouldn't go lower than R40k (which is out of my budget). I've gotten phone call from him saying that he would consider R38K. Which seems to me like a very good price.
Although this bike is very standard and I'll still be requiring panniers/top box/etc
[Option 2]
This bike I have not seen yet but also caught me eye.
2005 year
old shape
45,000km
just about every extra I could need
the owner is a Dog (you might know of the bike I'm talking about)
R35,500
Obviously I will have to see this bike before I decide.
Would you go with the older bike (that's done a lot more km's) or the newer bike that's a little out of your budget (especially when you factor in the extra's required).
...or neither?
