My Dakar's whining like a wife.

I start hearing it from around 2500 rpm and reaches its resonant peak at 3500. When I took it in for its 20k service I told the dealer's mech about this and he said they'll check it out. Afterwards he said they couldn't find anything wrong and it wasn't audible in the test ride.

But it's still there, very clearly. It seems to be engine-speed related (rpm), not road speed, so that would rule out tyres. Also, they replaced the chain/sprockets with the 20k service, but no diffs. They should have checked the wheel bearings as well.

I checked the water pump drain hole for leakage, but it seems fine.

Any ideas?  ???
