Hey guys,
Wanted to check in with you guys on how you wire up your Nav stuff. The reason that I ask is that I have had an issue with my RNS GFX unit, that froze up.
After a reset it froze up again. I had previously ridden maybe 10 hours with no issues.
Tony (from RNS) thinks that it may be because of fluctuating voltage and has recommend that I take power from the headlight rather than the battery.
I don't quite understand that, as the voltage also fluctuates at the lights.
My setup is as follows:
Separate loom ... from battery with a 10A main fuse.
That goes into a fuse box, that has 4 fuses (2A each)
From there into 4 switches and then onto the 4 things that I'm powering (RNS GFX, RNS Trip Master, Roadbook, Roadbook light)
I get 14.2v at the battery when the bike is running and 14.2v at the fuses.
- Does anyone have a separate voltage regulator (e.g buck / boost unit) installed for the Nav stuff ?
- Anyone run into the same thing with their GFX unit ?
- Any other thoughts ?
I notice on the rally bikes, there are no switches ... and its powered when the bike is on. Perhaps I should get rid of the switches and do the same ?
