Would you travel alone?

So we are planning a road trip next year, Mrs and I.

Loose plans are from home in KZN, Bloem, Kimberly, Upington, Ai-Ais, Luderitz, Gariep, Maletsunyane falls, home via Qachas's Nek.

Would you travel this as one couple, 50ish and 60ish? One vehicle, '99 Raider 4x4 DC 2.7i (petrol).

Thoughts appreciated. Main concern is a breakdown/problem in the middle of nowhere, with no signal and no passing vehicles.
