Why a strobe function?

In a gunfight a strobe is probably the last setting you need on a torch as if you intend to dazzle your opponent then it would rather depend on the output of the torch,  being shone directly in the opponents eyes.

Personally I have had three instances where I have had to use the Strobe Function on my EDC torch.

Working with a security detail at a conference I had to get a whole load of foreign visitors onboard bus after a party.

However the door of the bus was on the side that had oncoming traffic. Using the strobe I was able to alert oncoming vehicles to change lanes.

Whilst quad biking I got badly stuck and was on my own. After an hour or so of trying to make a plan I finally conceded defeat and phoned a good friend. I dropped a location pin via WhatsApp and waited.

However as I was about 1.5-2km from the access road I need to use my Torch with its strobe function to signal to my buddy as there were no obvious tracks road to where I was.

The strobe was observed and I was rescued.

Again, in the dark, I needed to guide some folks to a destination and signal a turnoff, I used a strobe placed alongside the road as a marker.
