Went to see and test ride a rare (in SA) Honda today with the view of buying bike to add to the stable. As my garage currently is 50/50 BMW airhead and Honda 2wheelers this seemed to make sense somehow. Bike in question is a 1986 XL600LMF, basically a XL600R with a huge 28 liter tank, comfy no slip seat and a usefull strong luggage rack on the back. Bike needs a bit of cosmetic work, the throttle cables need to be sorted (replaced?) and new sprockets and chains. Plastics (sidecovers and fender) are looking the age but in one piece. Otherwise totally original. She rides well, pulls fine and the engine makes no funny noises. The front brake is crap, needs new brakeline and fluid needs to be replaced. Bike was apparently ridden from UK to SA and left with Kyle, the owners brother. Kyle has done the COR and all papers seem to be in order. Asking 15500 but I know he is negotiable.
Why did I not go for it? Have a newish XR650L and a good R80 airhead, a bad R100RS and the 1971 Mutant 185 special Honda - so enough projects to last me a while.
That 28 liter tank is faarking sweet though! wonder if it will fit the 650L? Couple of pics and link to G/tree post attached. First 3 pics are the bike in question, the others are historical pics of what you may want it to be.

Edit: Forgot to mention it's got electric and kickstart.
