We are so fortunate here in Mossel Bay. We leave home, have breakfast at the 1Stop and then go for our Sunday ride. In less that 5 kays we are on dirt roads.
I remember when I lived in JHB we had to ride forever just to find a dirt road and when you did, it was generally in poor condition.
This year we decided to invite some WD holiday makers to share our run with us on the 31st December.
The day before we did Mini Dan's run simulating the ChrisL heat seize run last year. The rider that suffered the heat seize last year actually made it this year because the thermostat was in peak condition.

The small group consisted of Odd dog (Brian), Ri of purple DR fame, paulb and his 2 friends Anton and Kobus

Whilst we were doing the obligatory umming and aahhing over each others bikes before we left, this odd couple arrived on their road bike with an unusual passenger. The little mongrel wanted to bite my head off when I went to say hello. Bloody peasant thing!!
Ri goes right up to IT and IT poses for a picture!!

I love dogs but not bog-rats that want to bite me.
Anyway, here's a picture that says it all. Nobody says a thing but they're all thinking.....Is that bloody Husky even going to survive this trip  :imaposer:

The start sees us head out on tar for 3 klicks toward Albertinia and turn off onto gravel....
onto the Langberg on the left and the start of the Outeniqua on the right. Brian takes the lead toward the eastern bend of the Gouritz river

Stopping at the R327 we brief everyone on what lies ahead in the loop.
Bushes grow to the roads edge and wildlife can surprise you at any time.
Beautiful ride on good gravel through the hills and farms and tempting enough to hang on the cables >:D

This is an extremely rare photo!!
Two Husqvarna TR 650 Terra's seen in the same space.
You're not looking at a photoshop picture but the real thing!!
The rear tyre on Anton's TR was close to being a slick, but he rode well.
He mentioned that he covers the tyre at night so that the mosquitos don't puncture it

Heehee, that mutt was a little hyper. A real little prima donna poser, down to the almost-pout  ;D

Tony, thanks for the RR and beautiful photo's of what had been a fantastic ride. I'm following along again eagerly :ricky:

this odd couple arrived on their road bike with an unusual passenger.

That little mongrel has done many more kilos on a bike than some forum members and he has three bikes to ride and his owners loves riding.  :deal: :thumleft:
Once he knows you he is as gentle as can be. They live in Stillbay.

Odd couple...let me refresh my memory...nice friendly couple with an aggressive pooch....no disrespect to them, they were pleasant folk.

Just before the end of the loop we turn left and head for (and through) Gondwana private game reserve.
After going through the gate we stop for a photo shoot.
The sign warns that there are Lion (pronounced Lye-yawn)
Now, a third of us imagined a furry cat that we remembered from the Kruger.
We imagined a big cat taking us out as we rode through the reserve.
Another third who'd never seen lye-yawn, imagined The movie "The Lion King" and were hoping to see a little kitty.
The remainder thought the sign referred to "The Lyin' King" and thought it meant we were going to see the president.
None of us were in luck  :(

They must have expected us....the normally extremely marbled road was graded!
We were very fortunate to view Zebra and Eland at the waterhole.
Bottom picture was Ri leaving the bike in the open to try and bait the Lye-Yawn out of hiding

He was the cutest little fellow! A bit excited after his leg stretch, but very chilled once installed on the bike, and a natural for the cameras. His owners absolutely dote on him, it was adorable to watch

Three bikes? Whoa, that is one privileged doggie!

Nice one Tony, as usual. Here is a clip of above, excuse the gogga mark on the lense.

No idea why the quality seems so poor after posting on Youtube, anyone have any idea?

Leaving the game viewing of Gondwana we followed the Suurvlakte road to Brandwag on the R328 (Robinson Pass Road)
Interesting ride passing "Die Plekkie" with an old Citroen parked in the air.
second picture showing Odd Dog (Brian), Paul and Kobus

From Brandwag a couple of hundred meters south on the R328 and we turn onto the Geelbekvlei road following the Brandwag river which joins the  Moordkuil river to form the Kleinbrak.
