On a Friday evening in the middle of July my phone pings with a WhatsApp notification. It's @Amsterdam . The message goes something like : "We should organise a West Coast/Richtersveld/Orange River/Cederberg type loop. Are you keen?"

I'll plagiarise [member=19655]WildWood[/member] 's Orange River Wildride title in part as much of this route was based on the tours he does in the area.

The group is mainly made up of the riders from our Mpumalanga/Limpopo trip a few months ago. @Amsterdam , @BuRP @2StrokeDan Marc and myself. @chopperpilot already has a trip planned later in the year so he could unfortunately not join our ride. I invited @Muffin Man (who has been a lurker on year for way too long) along and his brother Wayne who is from Cape Town and has ridden with some of the other guys.

My journey starts on Friday morning in Nelspruit. The 3 hour drive to PTA on N4 turns into 4 hours due to crazy long weekend traffic and roadworks.

The drive is a pleasant one and the non-stop conversation makes the trip go by in the wink of an eye.

Checking this one - should be special  O0

We make it to Prins Albert by 3pm and do what any respectable Adv biker would do after an 11 hour drive...... we fill up our bikes with fuel  and go for a quick ride over Swartberg Pass. :ricky: :ricky:

It's a beautiful afternoon and with lots of long weekend traffic on the pass, we ride at a sedate pace and take in the beautiful views.

We stop to take in the views on Souther side of the pass and decide to turn around and head back to town. The deciding match of the Lions Series starts at 6pm and we still have to shower and unpack.
