Fork oil on F800GS...does it make a difference

Did an emergency high speed stop on the highway and front bottomed out, this is the second time, previously while lane splitting a cars door opened in front of me...did a nice "ndo"

Phoned BMW and they suggested thicker oil will help firming up the suspension. Please advise.
I know all the MP and other upgrades available but do not have the cash at the moment.

I'm 1.98m tall  weight 117kgs
