Ek dreig elke oggend na my commute om so n thread te begin. Nie om te bitch nie, maar bloot om tips en raad van almal in een thread bymekaar te bring. So, if you have anything to add, please do so!
1. Don't ride in the middle of a lane (between the two "ruts" of cagers' wheels) - that is where all the oil and pieces of debris are. Also, if a cager slams on his brakes, you have nowhere to escape to.
2. If you lane-split, try and pass cagers when there's vehicles on both sides of you. There are less chance of one of them not seeing you and turning into you.
3. Use your mirrors. it's there for a reason.
4. If you lane-split and a faster bike comes up behind you, just make way and let him pass. Yes, even if he rides a superbike. Don't be a doos, be lekker.
5. If you lane-split, don't weave through the traffic. If you do, cagers won't see you approaching.
6. Don't EVER be between a cager in the outside lane and a turn-off. You will be taken out.
7. When lane splitting in heavy traffic, watch out for "gaps" in the traffic - a cager will also see it and will try and slip into that gap without signaling.
8. Look at a cager's side mirror if you want to see if he has spotted you.
