Probably true. But riding with the hooligans you get bombarded with meteors size rocks.  Ive been very lucky with the r&g. It saved me in Namibia when we were doing a trip and a stray rock decided to aim for my rad. luckily just dented the guard and we could happily carry on.  8)

The plastic one is not as effective as what the metal ones are. I fitted a r&g guard from new and its has saved me more than i can count. worth every cent as a replacement radiator from ktm cost almost 8k!! The r&g was not that expensive if i can recall.

I also discovered a smaal leak in my radiator over the weekend. The radiator shop told me he can rather try and cement the hole as the fins are so thin it would just melt under a flame if you will braze the hole. Ktm qouted R7821 for a new radiator. Crazy!!
