I think you also need to be more era specific Classic adventure bike from 80's Classic adventure from 90's etc Each decade has its classics. Some will be more timeless than others. The reality is the older the bike is the more maintance it'll need. So are you looking for a more reliable newer...

That was the other thing I noticed. the 800gs sits at around 4500RPM at 120km/h. it even idles at around 1200 rpm. My pig sort of chugs at around 850 Rpm when idling. All came to just over 9k which i'm comfortable with. As mentioned earlier, I don't think the effort involved in saving a grand...

Yay, got my bike back. Excellent service from Donford. I was worried the bike was going to feel all weird compared to the courtesy bikes. But I must say it still feels good. One does realise though, just how clunky the gearbox is compared to the newer bikes.

I've the same Knox gloves and mine have lasted 10k km's so far.

The problem of course with servicing at BMW are the courtesy bikes. The first day I got a GS 700, really nice in traffic, touch small seeing as I'm 6'4 For the next two days I've got a GS 800 (Black), very nice. They also have RnineT as courtesy bike. I was really hoping for that, but they...

Hmmm, been advised they need another day due to intermittent arrival of spare parts. So only Thursday now.. I think I'm going to pay around 7/8k  >:D lets see what the final price is :sip:
