Canon GX1 was used.

We went West to East so was mostly was down hill, and in the dry I would rate it a 3 out of 5. But if you come East to West (uphill) and it's wet then maybe even a 5.

We stayed at this place. www.fairbairnguestfarm.co.za Very new place opened in Feb this year. Good value, excellent food. Very clean and neat. And best of all for this weekend they had electric blankets and unlimited wood.

Hey Dutchman81 a couple of us Durban okes will be in your neck of the wood over Easter. Staying at Thomas River and riding Katberg, Devils Bellow and then going home via Barkley Pass, Bester Voetslaan etc.

I won't bore everyone with yet more pictures of the pass suffice to say it is still quite bad. They have fixed it up a bit on top but could do with a bit more fixing. We passed some oke in a Fiat Panda 4x4 not sure if he made it all the way up.

Tracks 4 Africa show it but Garmin don't. Well not on my old 2010 copy.

On Saturday 3 of us took a ride up from Durban to the Lookout point which is a few KM past the "The highest Pub in Africa"

The last time I went up it I broke 2 ribs. Stupid mistake but in hind sight most offs are  ;) I first went up this pass on a bike in 1984,  two up on an XT500. Back in the 70's we used to drive up it with 2x4 Hi-Lux no problem. The road was a lot better back then. So was the beer...

Thank you. We were on our way back to Durb's from the Claren Beer Fes. It was at the Beer fes (after a few) that we decided to do the pass.
