    Tyre weld eats your rims

over a year ago I got a small leak in my rear tyre and inflated it with tyre weld (actually can't remember the exact brand) and miraculously it inflated and held pressure. Now ashamedly I have not ridden the bike for nearly 8 months... So I took the wheel off to replace the tyre and there are...

TYRES AGAIN- E07 PLUS vs Anakee Wild?

Mileage on the E-07+ is still very good in comparison to other 50/50 style tyres. I have seen official independent ride reports of over 20 000kms on the E-07+. Having said that I have seen much lower as well. The E-07+ is a better tyre in all departments against the old E-07...except mileage...

    Tyre Choice

The E-12 was developed for the Dakar and other similar races. Chris Birch won the Hellas rally on the E-12 rear and E-13 front tyres. The green strip actually is representation of the carcase as well as the compound. They lightened the carcase using Kevlar etc which is why it has a green stripe...

    My first puncture

the dangers...watch out for flying tyre leavers. I was watching a guy change his tyre and had hooked the tyre lever in the spokes and was pulling on the other one. the lever unhooked and hit his mate helping in the face and left a nasty gash....watch out for flying tyre levers  ;).

    My first puncture

I am making a general statement. True a little oil wont do much to the tyre over a short period however, what oil, how much oil and over what period. best just to say don't use petroleum products on your tyres as in theory they can damage the tyre. Sure if you have nothing else, but there are...

    My first puncture

Please stay away from any petroleum based lubricants as these can start to damage the rubber... in fact don't using any oil type lubes or you can very well start spinning the tyre on the rim as well. I use tyre soap that I keep in a small plastic tub. Once it dries out it offers no lubrication...

    Transkei tyres

Best tyre for that job is Either C-18 Green strip for a softer compound or go for the XT-454 double green compound if you want it to climb like a mountain goat! its a really soft compound BUT on a 230 it will last really long!

    Tyre experts ........... please help

I found the best and easiest solution is to deflate the tyre completely and push the tyre away from the rim. Buy some latex tyre sealant like Stans (any bicycle shop will have) and using a small paint brush paint some in and then inflate. The latex will create a gasket like seal!

    Running in a bike engine.

I have never run in a bike engine. I basically don't scream its lungs out on the first tank but that's about it. I am good friends with Bollie van Rooyen and he races his bikes out of the box. I also know of 3 of his race bikes that he sold and they have all been perfect with very high hours...

    Mitas E07 rear tyre failure

I had the standard tyres on my VW 4 motion transporter and never had a puncture. I then decided to fitted heavy duty AT tyres and within a month I had a puncture. The moral of the story is you can never account for bad luck and you can fit the standard version that is in itself a tough tyre and...

    Mitas E07 rear tyre failure

Ok Firstly running a tyre in is not a case of walking on eggs with the tyre its just saying don't ride it like you stole it for the first say 100 kms. Just take it...that's all. With regards to the tyre in question, the small cuts etc could simply be sharp rocks but these are superficial and no...

    Mitas E07 rear tyre failure

Very difficult to tell without seeing the tyre,  but consider that if you ride a area with sharp rocks or Shale rock you will get those kinds of cuts (sharp rock vs Rubber  ;) ). Also the E-07 plus is a 4 ply tyre and textile plys cannot crack so if a cut extends all the way into the carcase...

Mitas Eo9 dakar - a step too far.

What I was trying to say is, once you have fitted them don't worry about having to remove it on the site of the road because the chances of getting a flat are very remote and even if you did you could ride it flat for quite a while! fit the tyre and use a good sealant and never worry about...
