    WANTED SERVICE: Milling (Port Elizabeth)

Weedkiller - Adie Thanks for the suggestion. I'm looking at 25mm square tubing. The fitting is VERY temporary and yes I'd prefer an aluminium stock over mild steel. The quick sketch was based on 3mm MS tubing. The part(s) almost function like some of the older gazebo corner fittings.

ADVICE: Sand- or bead blast old bicycle frame?

I have an old, probably no name, steel road bicycle frame I want to restore a bit. Would a sandblast be fine or rather bead blasting? What are your thoughts/experiences?

    WANTED SERVICE: Milling (Port Elizabeth)

Allo dogs. I need a few pieces of square tubing milled down, all four sides with a ridge in the middle. I only need 8 of them though and I'd like to have them before the 5th of December. I did a quick sketchup last night, its 25mm square tubing, mild-steel. I'd prefer aluminum just for the...

    Loud pipes?

There is another saying in the USA: Loud Pipes Lose Land Which is an argument being raised since due to "loud bikes ripping everything apart" people are closing off undeveloped areas cause the bikes annoy them on Sunday mornings etc etc. Also know farmers complain about loud bikes in SA...

Old army webbing as soft pannier bags - your thoughts

As Austin Vince would say: The choice of luggage now is unbelievable. I favour homemade army surplus stuff because it’s cheap and there’s no denying how much fun it is making your own shit. Read more...

    The 20 000 Kilo stigma....

I have no issue with the 20,000km issue, I don't argue it. The less I argue it the more used bike prices come down for me to buy. Just image a bike with....eeeek.....40,000kms! It'll be a steal. ;)

Why do you need a camping stove ?

I've made two. Quite a fun little project. Did some tests on volume and burn time vs water volume etc. EDIT: OK, mine is really the penny stove, not a aluminum drinks bottle. But interesting.

    HID v LED

I think with LED technology for the different light projection patterns required one will likely go with seperate modules for each pattern. I've seen a wonderful DIY motorcycle light some years ago that did that. Different LED module + collimator for each pattern required. Harley Davidson has a...

    HID v LED

The only thing that is bothering me about LED's in auto lighting is the limited light wave spectrum. I know this cause dealing with LED's in video work is a bit of a compromise unless you have some serious dosh. For video work obviously it isn't as much of a, let's call it for now, perceived...

'HPN' copy R80 G/S for sale soon.

If some of the cafe racers got hold of your bike in this state, they will likely put a small seat on it and just ride it like a rat bike. Looks good.

    Initial sidestand foot design.

Why dual sport bikes don't come standard with a wide foot is beyond me. If you only put your bike on soft surfaces 1% of the time, it will likely fall over and ruin your day and the 99% of times it stood on hard pavement is forgotten as you pay for a new clutch lever, some over priced plastics...

    Earplugs (Poll)

Hearing loss is cumulative. Always ride with at least earplugs. Alternatively get better fitting ones (shelve bought or made), motorcycle specific ones or active. But always, wear earplugs unless you want to be known as uncle HUH!

Justification of 2 finger lever price?

High prices on parts, cars, motorcycles are due to large amounts of disposable income, i.e. credit.

    The DR650 thread

If Yamaha can do it with the SR400, Suzuki better do it with the DR650SE...or should I say DR650FI. My vote, and tweet to Suzuki: FI, 17l tank, upgraded suspension - leave the rest as is. https://www.yamahamotorsports.com/sport/products/modelhome/691/0/home.aspx 2015 Yahama SR400 Fuel...
