Sent my bike to BMW for its 20000 service and got told that I need to replace the headlight as it has melted but they will not replace for free as my bike is no longer under warranty. They admitted that this is the first bike with this problem. It is a 2008 model. I found another thread with similar problems reported. I am not sure of the extent of the melting as I spend most of my time in Zambia for work and the bike is in Gauteng.
So my questions are:
How many of these melted headlights are there actually around?
If it is a known fault then it should be a latent defect. This being the case, why are they not replacing to correct the defect?
Does anyone know if there was a bulletin about this fault from BMW ?
What are the contact details for BMW motorad so I can try and get some clarity on this issue?
