1290 top speed??

This past weekend i rode with a bunch of guys on 1190's and 1290's.  Me on a 1190 Adventure. Although we didnt really race, the guys took their bikes to max speed. Somehow I felt that the 1190 had more top end speed than the 1290's. ... Am i correct if i say that?
