I have a 2008 KLR 650. I bought this bike with 20 000km (prev owner said bike use little oil) on the clock and by 21 000 it was using 500ml oil per tank fuel en motor shot. So I had the motor rebuilt by Kawasaki CT Mike Hopkins. They said there was a recall on this model due to bad rings. My bike runs a penta after market pipe. Got it like this. Yesterday I heard another story of a Suzuki Vstrom where the owner also ran after market pipe and had to rebuild motor 2 times. Okay so bit of history here. My question is: Do I need my KLR checked\re-configured for the new pipe? I am so scared that the original problem of motor damage was maybe due to this. Do one need to re-jet? Should I worry about this? The bike has no flat spots when riding. Idle is a bit high, but that can be set. But just in general: Must I have the carbs reconfigured?
