As you all know I love to farkle and have spent a lot of time getting my bike setup just the way I like it, both as far as looks and ride go.
I also like to ride hard and love fast technical riding, The Tenere always impressed me with its balance and ability to handle the rough stuff, but you quickly feel when you are pushing beyond its comfort levels. That second whoop at speed quickly gets your right wrist rolling forward again!

Recently a small crack appeared on my stock front rim, this seemed to be growing and a pic was taken and sent to Yamaha, a few minutes later I was approved for a warranty replacement and with my sweetest smile asked the great folks at Shimwells what a excel rim would cost over and above the warranty replacement. "Lets see what we can do" I was told, and then Braham let me know that the would replace my stock rim with an Excel under warranty !!! Happy Days!!! I was so pleased I immediately asked about the Hyperpro upgrade and what the costs involved were.
R3500 including fitment was what I was quoted and as the bike was being collected for the rim I arranged to have the shocks done at the same time!

So after 4 days my baby was delivered back home. First thing I noticed was that she was quite a lot taller, at least an inch while seated, also no major sag when bouncing on the pegs.

Improved ground clearance, Might need to get the side stand foot extended a bit.

So yesterday I joined KnopKop on the Maraisburg ride to try her out proper like!!
The first 40k's to the meeting spot was all tar and I can not say I noticed a big improvement in overall ride quality, There is a big improvement in brake dive when stopping hard.
I also hit a rather large pothole and was surprised by how little effect I felt in the bike. It seemed to sit up more and feel more solid around sharp turns, But once on the dirt it was an eye opener I just kept throwing her at jumps and whoops and all she said was "More", she recovered so quick from a whoop or jump that I found myself over compensating like I used to do previously on rough terrain and almost lost it, I quickly realized that I simply needed to relax and let her do her thing! What a jol!! the stiffer rear also allows for much easier wheelies!!!  :ricky:
What a fabulous upgrade!!! cant wait for more playtime!!!
