990 Front rim 21" x 1.65

Hi there,
I dinged my front rim on a rock this past weekend and put a substantial smiley in it...first big ding in over 80 000 km's of dirt roading on my 950 / 990 bikes!
I want to replace the standard 21" x 1.85 outer rim with a 21" x 1.65 (narrower) Excel outer rim - has anyone out there heard any negative comments regarding the handling after changing to the narrower rim?
