A Bucketlist Trip

To us locals its known a the Side-Entry. If you had to google or look on a map you'll find it under Rus en Vrede 4x4 route. You pay a gate fee and the route starts/ends at Rus en Vrede next to Doiringkloof. It crosses the mountain part called Guerno in the Kouga mountains from Baviaans to Kareedow in the South.

Where GRP had some rough spots here and there, the SE is just rough all the way. Steep rocky loose stone climbs and decents. Again first gear does not work. You gun it in second and work the clutch. Its an exhilarating ride and certainly one of my favourites.

The views along the top is again awesome

That is actually Duks staring at his XT, but yes I know what you mean. The three of us have the same biking mindset.

Crab coming down the mountain, and then another smoke break.

After the first 30km or so you get to a plateau from where you would carry on to Baviaans lodge. I don't enjoy that part and we have an alternative route. You drop down into a kloof and meander along a nice poort for about 5km until you climb a pass to rival any other. This is a nicely maintained road and doable on any bike, which then brings you to Nooitgedagt valley and you on your way out.

View from the plateau

Lekker man. My arme ou Hondatjie was swaar gelaai toe jy my daar deur gevat het.

Then its up onto the mountain again with a view of the Kouga's.

Down at the bridge the river is quite low.

Nee man,jy bedoel seker side entry. Toe ons GRP gery get was al jou kit by my huis, dan nie.

In Kareedow everything is closed because church is not out yet, so we head over the mountain to Oudebosch for brekfis. We are properste knackered, but that lekker content tired. The ride over the two days certainly took it out of me, but it was one of the best weekend trips I'd ever done. We already planning doing it the other way around :lol8:

Its tar home and we klap it. OK 120km/m but on the F'ugly that's low flying for me. Final goodbyes at Van Stadens bridge. Thanks buds, that was a great ride.

Fluit-fluit, my storie is uit.

Crab, jou karnallie!!  ;)  :lol8:

It is beautiful and all in a space of 600km of riding. Just very dry.
