Today was one of those days one had to ride. And ride with your visor open.
Filled up at the "plaaswinkel" close to me.
Three kms down the road a left here.
Over the lowwaterbridge at the Goukou river.
A right here and I start zigzaging over "die vlakte".
Wheat looking good in some fields.
Canola in full bloom.
I reach the N2. Turn left for 7kms and turn right here.
I normally turn right here and over the mountain. Today I go strait to Heidelberg.
Must have been a grand house in its day.
Some say this is where milk comes from!
I go through Heidelberg and go towards Barrydale. Just after the tar stops I turn right. The view is
stunning.
The road towards Tradouws Pass and Barrydale and also Suurbraak.
What lies behind a turn like that?
Turn left at Grootvadersbosch. Its a deadend I know but have not been here in a while.
Love these roads.
Entrance to Grootvadersbosch.
The road below is the one Im taking.
Would like to know where that road goes to.
Crossed this river 5 times in a short distance.
I dont like these signs at all!!
I took a left here knowing its a deadend but there is a road up on a hill I wanted to ride.
I wanted to go and see whats broken of the hill. Alas not. Big lock on the gate!!.
Left here towards Riversdale. One of my favourite roads in the area.
Up on the hill and left. Ive never been to the irregation dam above Heidelberg. They knew I was coming!
Brandnew cementroad.
Hell I felt small standing there!
And it had a leak!!!
Its a dry year. The dam should be overflowing.
On the way out again. The town of Heidelberg in the distance.
These four didnt like the bike at all.
Two horsepower?!
The turnoff to Gysmanshoekpas.
I turned right to go back to the N2 where I began earlier.
These ladies were eyeing me while I was closeing the gate!!
Dropping down towards the N2.
I decided to turn left here and do dirt all the way to Riversdale instead of sitting on the N2.
One can see the ocean on a clear day from here.
Dropping down again into the valley below.
A narrow twisty road all the way to Riversdale.
I turned left on a farmroad which took me back to the maindirtroad that brought me from Hburg.
Riversdale below. I stayed on tar for the 40kms home. I started at 10.30am and got home at 3.45pm.
Did 246 kms and I realize Im a very lucky man to live in such a beautiful part of our country.
Thanks for reading.
