That's the plan........
Will travel from Nelspruit and hopefully spend the night at [member=24722]malmens gerrit[/member] after the ride.
Anyone keen on joining on the big bikes? Donkeys also welcome [member=41]sidetrack[/member] eepwall:
When you planning this for.....? >
As soon as possible........ but I've got a full calendar next few weeks, so probably towards end of October. Will need some gullible idiots on big bikes to join though..... ot:
Well, this ***** heads up there this Wednesday on 990. But as tempting as it is to hit Penge I will just do the pass you guys did as I'm just passing through on the way to Venda, so prefer to preserve my clutch plates for that.
I would recommend to wait for a bit of rain before you go again, for two reasons:
- I have done Penge 2-3 weeks ago with BuRP (on 690/701 though, which is admitedly cheating... 8) ) and because of dry ground the rocks are particularly treacherous - with wet ground they will be able to lodge itself to the ground better and give better traction.
- The forrest section is much nicer once the rain comes - it comes to its full beauty then (see some photos below). Not saying it is bad now, but believe me - it is much better when wet.
I would also recommend instead of going long way around to come from East through the gate and do a loop of either going down OB pass and up Penge, or if you are up to it going down noname (i.e. in the oposite direction you did now - you will have to negotiate the steep downhilss you did going up which will be interesting ot: ) and up Penge. Or the other way around - plenty of options, but I would avoid going around on tar again.
