What an awesome ride and report, well done :thumleft:
I truly believe that any guy who has his lady join him on a trip and enjoy it as much, is truly fulfilled ;D ;D
Well done to the missus, hope she a gets a bike too!
I'm booking it in for a service today, will let you know what they say. The oil usage seems to have stabilised after the trip. It's using about a pint every 500 km, which is still a lot, but at least it is predictable. I just check it every morning before I get on, and have a 5l container of GTX in the garage, so a top-up is no problem ;D
En wie sê 'n KLR kan nie 2-up die laaang pad vat nie? Excellent! I like the way you made 'other' plans as you went along. And I just want to welcome the GF to the dust side as well.
Great ride report. Especially for me doing a longish trip the end of July. I have a question about the luggage. I also have a KLR '08 and am a little concerned that the heat from the exhaust will damage the luggage. It seems you did not have any sort of frame to keep the luggage away from the exahaust and it worked fine? Please give some feedback on the luggage on your trip.
I have the Oxford Sports Humpback panniers - although I don't think that it would make a difference what panniers you use.
On the '08 KLR, there are little bobbins on the exhaust with rubber tips that hold the plastic shroud away from the exhaust. I have no plastic melted or deformation or anything on the inside of the shrouds, so it seems to have worked ;D
Definitely some of the most stunning parts of the country you did. But dont sit on your lorrels now, theres plenty more to see, so hope your planning the next one already.
