To answer your question about the difference between the 1150 and the Z , I would say that I still prefered the 1150.
Each bike has its strengths , the 1150 is a great tourer and is OKish on gravel highways, but a real handfull when the going gets rough. Its just too heavy to be a serious off roader. But its still a fantastic bike.
The Z is an Ok tourer, it can certainly do the distance, but it is not as relaxed as the big boxer.I haven't had a chance to take it off road yet , but if it is anything like the R it will be good. The Z is very tall , and that can be a little off putting especially when you have to get your feet down in a hurry. Its something I am going to have to get used to. The Z feels a lot lighter than the 1150 although the difference is only about 20kg if Im not mistaken.
So far ...I like the Z ...but I need to spend a lot more time on it to give you an objective comparison.
