Brilliant report, have been waiting for this for a while Hoofseun.

No wonder you were so windgat at the slowest race at Countrytrax! All that army training!

Thanks Hoofseun. :thumleft:

Great to read, always loved the bike squad guys, came across many over the years as a rooineck bike mechanic working in main street ,the stories were cool ,you guys had way too much wheelie practice though flippin unfair.
I bought my first XR500 from middmacor in the box in 82, first of many !  Great bikes..
Thanks for posting really enjoyed it.

We had a similar one in yellow.  Wish I could find it...

Fantastic, "swapo is our traction", number of "dowe" Swapo's, unknown!

I can only imagine the clever people in Pretoria sitting around a table, planning this unit.  Given bikes and free petrol to some youngsters out of school sure had a different outcome than they planned. :thumleft:

The army was not the same for all and scared some more than others.  At least some skills helped us.  In 1977, I rode Honda's400 Super Sports in the army, we also had two Triumph Bonneville's, with the gear and breaks on the "wrong" side.  Still have a scar on my leg to remind me that that's confusing.

Once again Hoofseun, great report!,,

What a lekker read, thanks for taking  the time to write it up. And you mentioned Mosita and Stella, that is close tothe Botswana border,a lot of camps were done there.
And close to that was Pomfret, where a lot of 32 Bat were resettled when pulling out of Angola.
