I flew to JHB to see my son and test drive a 1200 GSA that had been advertised on WD. My offer was accepted and Bumble Bee and I were on our way to PE. I was not exactly prepared for this eventuality and only had my open face Quad bike helmet and a pair of gloves with me. But, the deal was done and the bike would not get home any other way.

Left JHB at 06h45 and arrived in PE at 17h00. These GSA's are amazing, not even a sore butt.

Just some pictures of the trip.

The wind was howling across the Free State plains and rain was a constant imminent threat. It made for spectacular backdrops.

I think she was getting a little hot under the collar. The weather, however was getting colder and wetter.

I had a few spits of rain here and there, but no drenching.

Safely back in PE where Bumble Bee joins Lady in Red (who is now for sale..............more of that later), but the Anakees that she is shod with, will have to make way for some adventurous knobbly type tyres before the next venture out onto less asphalted roads, as per the tyres you can see on Lady in Red.

So, after the preliminary check up of Bumble Bee, it was decided that a weekend away was a good idea. Alan Lewis recommended I try the new Anakee III tyres front and back. So, with the new shoes on, we headed down the highway to Plett.

I was not all that sure about these tyres, they do not look like knobblies that are required for off-roading. I familiarised myself with gravel riding on the standard Anakees on my first GSA. But, they were not perfect for all occasions, so I don't know what to expect from the Anakee III's.

Only one way to find out and that is to RIDE.

Baie geluk met die nuwe scoot. Veilig ry en geniet elke myl !!!

Some photos along the way and into Bloukrantz Pass. It is "closed" for traffic, so it is very quiet down there and a great ride.

It is my first time with a pillion and the bike is handling amazingly. The Anakee III's are confidence boosters in the corners. No shifting, no sliding, no twitching. Solid.

Amazing scenery in the pass. Then the view over Nature's Valley. And the Rum and Coke river.
