Any advice/tips for new owner of 1150GS

I got myself this beauty of a machine a few months back and unfortunately have very little knowledge of this bike or bikes in general for that matter. Any advice is welcome from looking after the bike to what work one can do on it by oneself, what needs to be checked first if you break down next to the road etc. Literally any input would be welcomed here I really want to get to know the bike inside out....
