After lots of googling I've decided the best approach to remove this ugly purple powder coating is chemical stripping.
Some areas peeled right off, but about half the frame is left with really stubborn coating. A good coat of stripper and then scraping with stanley knife does the job but its very time consuming.
I'll have to send the frame to the blasters afterwards in anyways to remove the under coat
