Battery not charging

My brand new lead acid battery has left me in the lurch, and on checking the voltage while the bike is running, I'm seeing just the battery voltage (12.4V), not the expected charging voltage (13.5 - 14.5V), so it looks like my bike's charging circuit or magneto is stuffed.

Any idea what I can check?
